Welcome to Project Kibo
Welcome to the official development blog for Project Kibo! This is where I’ll be documenting the journey of building an intelligent AI system from the ground up.
What is Project Kibo?
Project Kibo explores the capabilities of robotic intelligence through reflective techniques designed to mimic sentience. Rather than simply creating another AI system, the goal is to develop a framework that can observe its own thought processes, question its responses, and adapt its behavior through self-reflection—much like conscious beings do.
This involves experimenting with metacognitive architectures where the AI system maintains models of its own reasoning, monitors its decision-making processes, and uses this self-awareness to improve its interactions with the world. The project investigates whether such reflective loops can emerge naturally in sufficiently complex systems or if they must be explicitly designed and trained.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog will serve as a living documentation of the project, covering:
- Hardware Development: Physical components, sensors, actuators, and robotic platforms
- Software Architecture: AI models, system design, and development practices
- Progress Updates: Regular updates on what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next
- Technical Deep Dives: Detailed explanations of interesting problems and solutions
The Journey Ahead
Building an intelligent system is no small task, but that’s what makes it exciting. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Whether you’re here to follow the technical details, get inspired for your own projects, or just curious about AI development, I hope you’ll find something valuable.
